Josie Rashkin has been a Long Islander for thirty some years since moving from the Midwest.
Living on a barrier beach, the ocean has become the essence of her painting, with light being the inspiration for setting the color, mood, and life of her painting.

Josie studied at the John Herron Art Institute of Indiana University and received a degree in Art Education from Ball State University. After graduating, she continued to study at the Parsons School of Design, New York City.

She has exhibited at the Salmagundi Club in New York City, the Hechsher Art Museum in Huntington, NY, with the Long Island Art League, the Long Beach Art League, and the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic.

Her work can also be seen at "Birdsey" on the Cape, Osterville, MA and Art & Soul Gallery, Eastport, NY.
